Throughout my career in healthcare, I have had the privilege of working alongside some incredible nurses, doctors, midwives, educators and other healthcare professionals. Working in neonatal care has shown me just how important teamwork is. Caring for tiny, vulnerable babies can be challenging, emotional and unpredictable. It takes a whole team of people working together — supporting each other, communicating, sharing knowledge and, most importantly, caring. I've also seen how much a simple “thank you” can mean. Sometimes we don't know what to say to someone who has made a difference to us. A small card, thoughtful gift or personalised message can provide a way of saying: “I appreciate you.” “Thank you for everything you've done.” “You made a difference.” From healthcare to creating something meaningful My background in neonatal nursing, education, leadership and research has given me a real appreciation for the people behind healthcare. Education has also taught me that learning isn't simply about facts and clinical skills. It's about people. It's about confidence, communication, compassion, teamwork and creating an environment where people feel valued. I wanted to create something that reflected those values. And so Paper Kindness was born. The idea is simple: create thoughtful, cheerful and meaningful gifts for the people who make a difference in our lives. From nurses, doctors and midwives to friends, colleagues, teachers, family members and anyone who deserves a little appreciation, Paper Kindness is about celebrating the people who matter. Kindness matters My designs are inspired by simple messages that we sometimes need reminding of: Kindness matters. Friends matter. Teamwork matters. Love matters. You matter. Because we never really know what someone else is going through. A small gesture can brighten someone's day. A few words can make someone feel appreciated. A thoughtful gift can remind someone that their hard work hasn't gone unnoticed. That's the heart of Paper Kindness. Made with healthcare heroes in mind Having spent much of my career working in neonatal care, I have a particular soft spot for healthcare teams. Healthcare professionals give so much of themselves to others. Long shifts, difficult situations, emotional conversations and constant responsibility can take their toll.
